Trainee Susan Perez Wins First Place in SEES Poster Competition

March 18, 2024

Susan D. Perez, UA SRC Trainee mentored by Dr. Raina Maier, won first place in the School of Earth and Environmental Science (SEES) poster competition on March 18, 2024.

The SEES poster competition is part of the University of Arizona’s Earthweek event, an annual student-led, week-long event put on by SEES. The event celebrates the research being done in the seven departments within SEES: the School of Natural Resources, the Arizona Institute for Resilience, the Department of Environmental Science, the Department of Geosciences, the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences, the Laboratory of Tree Ring Research, and the School of Geography, Development, and Environment. Earthweek also encompasses a variety of other events celebrating the Earth and our relationships with it.

Susan Perez’s poster was titled, “Factors Controlling Removal of Uranium from Groundwater with Glycolipids and Ion Flotation: A Path to Achieving Compliance”. Her coauthors were Dr. Rob Root, Dr. Raina Maier, and Dr. David Hogan.

The same poster presentation also got an honorable mention for another environment-focused event, ENViSion 2024!

Congratulations to Susan D. Perez!
